Graduate Nurse Program

Who Are We?

IDHS is situated in the Loddon Shire, approximately 50 kilometres from Bendigo with the catchment area being the southern half of the Loddon Shire which has a population of approximately 4,770. IDHS provides a diverse and comprehensive range of services including acute inpatient and urgent care services, residential services and community based services. We comprise of:

  • Eight (8) beds available for acute inpatient medical services as well as a transition care program (TCP)

  • Two (2) bed urgent care centre (UCC) which sees various presentations including chest pain, wound care, pathology, respiratory conditions, and any presentation that a larger emergency department would see

  • 15 nursing home beds for high care residents and 20 hostel beds for lower care residents

  • Community nursing services provided by our district nursing service

Program Overview:

IDHS facilitate the transition of our graduates, by providing day-to-day bedside support via our experienced team of clinical nurses and preceptors. Graduates are provided the opportunity to consolidate undergraduate skills and knowledge, integrate theory to practice and further develop professional and clinical skills through our structured, clinically-focused program.

IDHS graduate nurse program is open to:

  • Registered nurses

  • Part time (0.8 full time equivalent)

About You:

Your qualifications, skills and experience

  • Our graduate nurse program is open to newly qualified registered nurses who have registered with AHPRA

  • Candidates will share the values of IDHS being respect, choice, equality and care

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

  • Proven organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and mange a diverse caseload

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

Your Application Must Include:

  • Cover letter (one page)

  • Resume (maximum three pages)

  • Two (2) acute care clinical placement reports: third year or most recent available. Entire report required (certified copies requested if not electronic format)

  • One referee: either a clinical teacher or registered nurse with whom you have worked.

All appointments are made subject to the candidate providing a current satisfactory national police certificate conducted by the Victoria Police.

Graduate Nurse Support:
