Inglewood & Districts Health Service (IDHS) is situated in the Loddon Shire, approximately 50 kilometers from Bendigo with the catchment area including the southern half of the Loddon Shire having a population of approximately 4,830 (Loddon Shire, 2018).

The township of Inglewood was founded in 1859 as part of the Gold Rush in Victoria, the original hospital built in 1863 and remains in the same location.

Our Inglewood site is the main campus and comprises of 8 Acute Hospital beds a 2-bed urgent care and 35 bed aged care facility.

Inglewood and Districts Health Service (IDHS) was formed on January 1st, 1996, following the amalgamation of the Inglewood Hospital and the Inglewood and Districts Community Health Centre.

HISTORY

Inglewood & Districts Health Service is a rare jewel: a holistic health service nestled in the historic gold rush town of Inglewood in country Victoria.

Located on one site are hospital, including urgent Care, community health, and residential aged care facilities.

Inglewood & Districts Health Service (IDHS) offer a diverse range of services, to our community including diabetes education, community and district nursing, counselling, cardiac rehabilitation, social support groups and strength training programs. We are supported and enhanced by our volunteer’s adding richness to our programs.

IDHS is situated in the Shire of Loddon, the catchment area is the southern half of the Shire of Loddon, has a population of almost 5,000. Communities serviced in this area include the townships of Bridgewater, Inglewood, Korong Vale, Serpentine, Wedderburn, Newbridge, Tarnagulla and surrounding townships.

The service is an easy 10-minute walk from the heart of Inglewood with a population of 800. The town was born from the 1800s alluvial gold rush, and features a charming historic streetscape, many notable gold rush buildings, gold field sites and excellent wineries. It also has a modern pharmacy, banks, post office, supermarket, bowls and golf clubs.

A 45km drive away is the bustling, Central Victorian town of Bendigo with all the facilities and services of a large regional center. It can be reached by public transport, and our lifestyle and leisure team arrange regular outings to Bendigo and other larger centers.

IDHS has strategic alliances and/or Partnerships with a range of hospitals, health services, health alliances and government bodies.

The Nursing Home and Hostel are ideally located within the IDHS hospital complex with 15 nursing home and 20 hostel beds. These residential services are fully accredited and IDHS prides itself on the friendly, committed and excellent care that is provided for residents and families in this comfortable home-like environment.
